Classical Music in MIDI files | The main resource: kunstderfuge.com

August 24, 2008

At kunstderfuge there are complete piano works by Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn, Mozart, Bach, original piano rolls, sacred hymns, popular tunes, medieval and renaissance music, ragtimes, and much more. All available in MIDI format. The files have been produced by a variety of  contributors some of which exclusively work for us so that a wide part of our collection cannot be found anywhere else. The structure of the site is very simple: all files are ordered by composer, making them easily searchable. [...] Cool!

Since 2002 kunstderfuge.com has enjoyed great success with its over 2.000 unique visitors/day, which rapidly increased to 3,000 p/day in 2003, over 5,000 p/day in 2005 and reached in 2006 millions of people worldwide, receiving thousands of compliments and reviews from amateurs to engineers to professional musicians, thousands of subscriptions, and hundreds of licences for various purposes (including commercials).

From the very beginning the main goal of the site was to put some order in the list of production of MIDI files of classical music so as to gather together a legacy of dozens of small and forgotten (many now cancelled) .mid sites, giving them new life! Today kunstderfuge.com is the main resource of classical music with over 16,000 selected, authorized and legal MIDI-format files.

To enjoy listening to and/or to download kunstderfuge.com files (including .pdf and .zip files) with no daily limits you may now choose from three different subscription levels. Each level has a different amount of files available for downloading. Subscription is very cheap (15 euros) and life-long (no automatic renewals never!) and permits to download ZIP files both for MIDI archive and PDF sheet music archive!

Since last year we also collected a wide range of classical music e-books (PDF) available at the partner site classicaland.com. The sheet music books are our own property (not external contributions like other sites may have), we selected and bought them one by one in our trips through the Europe, and some of them are really first or editions and some other very original revisions, and we scan them with precision and 400 dpi resolution just for our subscribers (read more)!

kunstderfuge.com is property of OnClassical, a professional and independent record label based in Italy, so even kunstderfuge.com is not an amateur website.

kunstderfuge.com & learn to play with MIDIs!

November 19, 2007

We are simply proud to let you know that kunstderfuge.com is the MAIN and the MOST SELECTIVE resource of classical music in MIDI files on the net. We remind you that MIDI files are very useful for educational and entertaining purposes such as:
- learning to compose
- learning how to play the piano
- analyzing compositions
- making your own ringtones
- making your own sheet music

Please note that with a normal subscription we offer you:
1) a free tool to convert MIDI files into ringtones. This will allow you to have plenty (thousands) of files ready for use with your cell phone.
2) a free tool to covert MIDI files into SHEET MUSIC!!!
3) many other benefits that you can see at
http://kunstderfuge.com/-/subscription.htm.

Furthemore with our “rolls” (http://kunstderfuge.com/piano-rolls.htm) you can listen to how great pianists of the past played: just put your .mid files on your keyboard, disklavier or (good) sound card.

Personally I also believe that a good pianist should record his performances on MIDI support. For example MIDI taught me, through the analyzyng of my own touch, the exact way to approach the board with my fingers. Infact, with a very simple SEQUENCER (software for reading MIDI files) you can see all the notes and their values, their dynamics and many other elements. Software for playing MIDI files can be downloaded for free via internet (it’s lightweight software, usually made available for free).

At http://kunstderfuge.com/media.htm see a list of the software types we use.

Also, don’t forget that MIDI files are very very light: our entire collection of over 16,000 files is only 80 mbytes (while an 8 minute CD track is the same!!!)
